(What’s Right is Right) March 26, 2011-From everything I can find on the internet, President Obama may unwittingly-or even worse, wittingly- be aiding al-Qaeda to gain a foothold in Libya, giving it a new base in North Africa.
According to the UK’s The Telegraph, the leader of the Libyan opposition, Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, says fighters who are now fighting on the front lines against Muammar al Qaddafi are veteran jihadists who fought against allied forces in Iraq.
One of the most disturbing paragraphs in The Telegraph’s article goes as follows: “Mr al-Hasidi insisted his fighters ‘are patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists,’ but added that the ‘members of al-Qaeda are also good Muslims and are fighting against the invader.’”
So, basically, we have the leader of those who are fighting against Qaddafi, whom we are supporting militarily, saying that “members of al-Qaeda are also good Muslims and are fighting against the invader.” Obviously, he’s talking about us. The good guys who are saving his hide.
He couldn’t possibly be talking about Qaddafi, for Qaddafi is not an invader. He’s a homeboy in Libya. This guy al-Hasidi is saying that we Americans (and other Westerners) are desired by the rebel forces to defeat Qaddafi, but only so they can turn Libya into an al-Qaeda state where they can plan to kill us at a later time.
Did we not learn anything from helping Iraq against Iran and Afghanistan against the Soviets? Sure, my enemy’s enemy is my friend today, but tomorrow, when my enemy’s enemy has been defeated, my enemy is my enemy again. Does that make sense?
Al Hasidi disclosed in the interview that he had fought against “the foreign invasion” in Afghanistan before being captured in 2002 in Pakistan. He said he was handed over to the U.S., was held in Libya, and was released in 2008.
If that isn’t enough to put the fear of God into you, according to the BBC, Ayman al-Zawahri, al-Qaeda’s second-in-command, said in a recorded audio message on the internet that a Libyan Islamist group known as The Fighting Islamic Group in Libya is joining forces and becoming part of al-Qaeda. How’s that for gratitude from the Libyans?
According to the BBC’s website, “The recorded message called on Islamists to topple North African as well as Palestinian leaders. ‘O nation of jihad, support your sons so that we defeat our enemies and rid our homeland of their slaves,’” said the recorded voice attributed to al-Zawahri, referring to the leaders of Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco.
A spokesman for the Fighting Islamic Group in Libya, called Abu Laith al-Libi, is quoted as saying, “We proclaim our alliance with the Al-Qaeda network… to become the faithful soldiers of Osama Bin Laden.”
Pam Gellar from the Fox Nation puts it this way: “Obama is now paving the way for an Islamic state in Libya. Not that Libya has been good under Gaddafi – hardly. But there are degrees of evil. The situation can always be worse, and little matches the anti-human brutality of Islamic regimes in the twenty-first century.
“It’s ironic that Obama has turned against Gaddafi, since Gaddafi has regarded him warmly, saying in April 2010: ‘Barakeh Obama is friend…He is of Muslim descent, his policy should be supported.’ As meticulously documented in my book, The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration’s War on America, the ties between Gaddafi and Obama are close and extensive. Back in July 2008, Gaddafi endorsed Obama, going so far as to say: ‘All the people in the Arab and Islamic world and in Africa applauded this man. They welcomed him and prayed for him and for his success, and they may have even been involved in legitimate contribution campaigns to enable him to win the American presidency.’”
